Adrian Arellano
Adrian Arellano is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of Michigan. He is studying international relations, comparative politics, and research methodology. Specifically, he considers the emergence of civilian militias in Mexico during the recent drug war. His research integrates the study of state formation, political economy, and asymmetric warfare to understand why civilians enter the security market, in the process exploring the multiple centers of power and violence within a state. He received a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Davis in 2011.
